Narrative films

Stories that run
longer than a spot.

Short films carried by character rather than product. A script, a cast, a world, and the same order of work as any shoot. The film is the point, not the pipeline.

The Last Relic · Director’s Cut · 1:40 · commissioned · written and directed by Arturo Alanis Garza

What it is

A script first. Everything else follows.

Narrative work is the hardest thing to do this way, which is why it is worth doing. A commercial can survive on one good image. A short film cannot: the face has to stay the same across forty shots, the light has to behave, and the performance has to carry a turn the audience believes. We develop the script, design the characters, board the sequence and direct every shot, then cut, grade and score it like any other film.

The films

Two films, two very different briefs.

Narrative short · Commissioned · 1:40

The Last Relic — Director’s Cut

Two warriors, a ruined spacecraft, and a relic neither will put down.

Full story

Inside a ruined spacecraft, two warriors clash over a mysterious golden relic. What begins as a fight for possession becomes something else: a story about perception, vulnerability, and the choice to understand what an object means to someone else.

An original science-fiction short about the moment competition gives way to empathy. This Director’s Cut carries the complete version, from the atmospheric opening through the duel, the turn, the unmasking and the ending.

Birthday film · Commissioned · 2:04

Joyeux Anniversaire Miranda — Director’s Cut

Three worlds, built out of one person’s passions.

Full story

A birthday fantasy that moves through Miranda’s world: music, sport and art. A guitar solo under stadium light, a goal on the hockey rink, and a portrait artist at work above the rooftops of Paris.

Three worlds, each one drawn from something she loves. Written around one person and screened on the night.

Directed by Arturo Alanis Garza · Produced by Coralian Films AI Studio

How it works

Six steps, in the order a film is made.

Development

We take your script, write one with you, or start from an outline. Nothing is produced until the story and the ending are agreed.

Character design

Faces, costume and silhouette are locked before a single shot exists. This is what keeps a character the same person in shot forty as in shot one.

Boards and look development

Shot design, lens, blocking and the light of each sequence, decided on paper first the way a cinematographer would.

Generation passes

Shots are built in passes and judged against the boards. Anything that drifts from the design gets remade rather than accepted.

Edit

Assembly, pacing and performance. The cut is where a generated film either becomes a film or stays a reel of shots.

Score, sound and grade

Original music composed for the picture, full sound design, and a proper colour pass. Delivered as a 4K master.

Questions Read the answers
What is a narrative film made this way?

A short film with a script, characters and a story, produced through a generative pipeline instead of a shoot. The order of work is the same as any film: development, character design, boards, look development, passes, edit, grade and sound. What changes is how the images are made, not how the film is directed.

Are these films commissioned?

Both of the films on this page are. The Last Relic was produced with Tao Prompts, and Joyeux Anniversaire Miranda was commissioned as a birthday film. We take on both original development and commissioned work.

What is a birthday or celebration film?

A short film written around one person and screened on the day. We interview whoever is commissioning it, build the story out of what that person actually loves, and direct it scene by scene. It works for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and any occasion where a room is going to watch something together.

How long does a narrative short take?

A two to three minute film is typically four to six weeks from approved script to master. Development and the script come first and are approved before anything is produced. Longer or more character-heavy pieces take longer, because consistency across shots is the work.

Can you work from our script?

Yes. We take a finished script, develop one with you, or write from an outline. We also do proof-of-concept and pilot films for projects looking for finance, where the point is to show how something would look before it is made.

What do you deliver?

A 4K master with original score, full sound design and a proper colour pass, plus cutdowns and vertical versions on request. Characters, environments and costumes are developed as original creations for the film.

Send us the script.

Or the idea, or the person the film is about. Tell us the story and the constraint and we will tell you what we would make of it, and what it would take.
